Ravenwoods
This forest retreat was designed as a quiet escape—something modest, intentional, and deeply connected to the land. Rather than clearing the forest, we placed the home gently within it, letting the trees remain the dominant presence. The dark vertical siding allows the volumes to recede into the background, while the warm interiors open up to light and views. Its design that stays out of the way—simple forms, honest materials, and a strong focus on how it feels to be there.
The two building volumes serve different purposes—one for rest, the other for gathering—joined by a glass corridor that acts as both a threshold and a pause. This layout not only frames the forest but also gives a subtle rhythm to how the space is used. Every detail, from the slab on grade to the natural raw materials, was chosen for durability and a soft, grounded feel. It’s a cabin that feels unassuming but thoughtful, designed to offer calm, comfort, and connection.
